Working With Thryvo Financial Advisory — Frequently Asked Questions

Formerly EJ Consortium (EJC). We're the same team, the same mission, and the same people — now under a name that better reflects where we're taking this work.

Thryvo Financial Advisory helps purpose-driven founders turn financial and operational chaos into clarity — so you can get paid, get organized, and get your life back without burning out or betraying your values. This FAQ answers the questions we hear most often from founders considering working with us and from clients already in the work.

Getting Started

What is Thryvo, and who do you work with?

1

We're a strategic financial and operational advisory firm: Think CFO-level partnership, not just a bookkeeper. We work with purpose-driven founders who want to grow sustainably without sacrificing their people or their purpose. If you're doing meaningful work but drowning in financial chaos, shaky cash flow, and duct-taped systems, that's exactly who we're built for.

Are you the same company as EJ Consortium?

2

Yes. Thryvo Financial Advisory is the new name for EJ Consortium. Same founder (Rachel Bernier-Green, MST), same team, same values — you may still see "Thryvo Financial Advisory (FKA EJ Consortium)" on our emails and documents during the transition. Nothing about your engagement, your team, or your data changes because of the name.

How do we get started working together?

3

It begins with a consultation Discovery Call where we learn about your business, your pain points, and your goals, and you learn how we work. From there, we meet up a second time for an Impact Consultation call where we recommend the engagement that fits — whether that's a cleanup project, an ongoing retainer, fractional CFO support, or a membership. Once you're ready, we send an agreement and an invoice, give you access to your onboarding materials, and begin gathering what we need to build your financial picture.

This is the single biggest factor in how smoothly (and quickly) your work goes. We'll need access to your financial accounts and systems, your historical records, and timely responses when we ask questions or request documents. We're transparent about this up front because the most common cause of delays is waiting on information. When you keep up with the small asks on your side, we keep your financials on schedule.

Services & Scope

What services do you actually offer?

1

We combine high-level financial strategy with the hands-on implementation to make it real. That includes bookkeeping and monthly financial statements, accounting system setup and migration, payroll support, cash flow and pricing strategy, financial cleanups, tax-season readiness, internal controls, and fractional CFO guidance. Not every client needs all of it — we scope to what your business actually needs right now.

Do I have to sign up for everything, or can I get just one piece?

2

You can start with just what you need. Some clients come to us purely for fractional CFO strategy while their own team keeps the books. Others want us running the day-to-day bookkeeping. We'll recommend a fit, but the goal is to meet you where you are — not to sell you more than you need.

My books are a mess / I'm behind. Can you fix that before we set up ongoing work?

3

Yes — this is one of the most common ways founders start with us. We'll scope a cleanup project to get your records accurate and current, then, if it makes sense, transition you onto an ongoing retainer so they stay that way. We're honest about scope: cleanups can uncover more than expected, and we'll keep you informed if the work grows so there are no surprises.

Pricing & Value

Why are you more expensive than my last bookkeeper?

1

Many previous providers charge less because they do less: they might record transactions but never produce a balance sheet, a cash flow statement, or the strategic guidance you need to actually make decisions. Our pricing reflects a full financial partnership that addresses the root causes of your pain points, not just data entry. Figuring it all out alone — the sleepless nights, the shaky cash flow, the duct-taped systems — is expensive too; it's just a cost that doesn't show up on an invoice.

Is it worth it? How do I know I'm getting my money's worth?

2

We build our offers so the value is tangible. Depending on your engagement, that can include regular working sessions, office hours, community access, monthly financial reviews, and CFO-level strategy — often several hours of expert time each month plus the systems and clarity that come with it. We practice radical transparency, so you'll always be able to see what you're getting for what you're paying.

What if my revenue is uneven or too low some months to sustain a fee?

3

Tell us. We'd rather design something sustainable than watch you overextend. We have different levels of support at different price points, and part of our job as your financial partner is helping you build the revenue and pricing strategy that makes support affordable. If the fit isn't right yet, we'll be honest about that too.

Ongoing engagements are billed on a recurring basis, and project work is invoiced as scoped. If a payment is declined, we'll reach out so we can update your information and keep your service uninterrupted — We’re here to help and offer quick fixes whenever possible!

Timeline & Turnaround

How quickly will I get my monthly financials?

1

When you give us the information we need and respond promptly, we can typically have your financials completed by around the 15th of the following month. The timeline is a partnership: the faster we get what we need from you, the faster you get clean, decision-ready numbers back.

How long will a cleanup or migration take?

2

It depends on how far behind the records are and how quickly we can get access and answers. We'll give you an estimate up front and keep you posted on progress (for example, "we're about 70% through the cleanup"). If the scope grows as we uncover issues, we'll tell you before doing additional work — never after.

Working Together

How do we communicate, and how do I get help between deliverables?

1

Beyond your scheduled meetings, clients get support through regular working sessions, their client portal, office hours, and — depending on your engagement — a community space where you can ask questions and get answers between calls. You won't be left guessing until your next formal review.

What's your approach — how is Thryvo different from a traditional consultant or accountant?

2

Traditional financial advice defaults to the easiest lever: cut costs, slash payroll, tighten the belt. We ask different questions first. Are you charging what your work is worth? Where's the operational waste? Can we diversify revenue? Only after that do we look at team structure — and even then, we treat compensation as an investment, not just an expense to minimize. We combine serious financial and operational expertise with human-centered, justice-first care. Our job isn't to talk you out of your values; it's to make the numbers work in service of them.

Will I work with Rachel directly, or with a team?

3

Thryvo is a team. Depending on your engagement, you'll work with Rachel and/or other members of our team, each bringing the right expertise to your work. Whoever you're working with, you get the same standard of care and transparency.

Systems, Tools & Security

What software and tools do you use?

1

We standardize on modern, cloud-based systems so your financials are accurate, accessible, and easy to act on. We're a Xero partner and typically run client accounting there, with reporting dashboards layered on top, and we support payroll through platforms like Gusto. If you're on a different system, we'll advise on whether to keep it or migrate, and we handle the migration for you.

Is my financial data kept secure?

2

Yes. Protecting your financial information is a core part of how we operate. We store client financial files in secure, access-controlled systems so sensitive details like bank account numbers stay protected, and we're deliberate about how information is shared and who can see it.

Radical transparency is our first value: we'll share the full picture, even when it's uncomfortable, because that's how trust gets built.
